  19. and OpenSource today signed an agreement making OpenSource the
  20. exclusive distributor of Insignia's SoftPC DOS/Windows emulation
  21. software for NEXTSTEP. OpenSource is the largest distributor of
  22. NEXTSTEP third-party software and hardware solutions.

  24. This agreement encompases both SoftPC 4.0 NEXTSTEP for Intel and
  25. SoftPC 3.0 NEXTSTEP for Motorola.

  47. MS-DOS and Windows emulation under NEXTSTEP for Intel. SoftPC is
  48. optimized to take advantage of the native Intel hardware, supports
  49. all DOS and Windows applications compliant with DPMI (DOS Protect
  50. Mode Interface), and includes network support for Novell IPX and
  51. LAN Workplace DOS TCP/IP. With SoftPC, you can easily copy and paste
  52. text and graphics between NEXTSTEP applications and PC programs
  53. such as CorelDraw, dBFast, Excel, and Object Vision. The software
  54. includes special Insignia Windows and mouse drivers that optimize
  55. the performance of graphics-intensive applications. SoftPC supports
  56. extended and expanded memory for DOS applications requiring more
  57. than 640 kilobytes, PC floppies and PC CD-ROMs, and serial and
  58. parallel ports. Support for VGA graphics with 256 colors provides
  59. increased display resolution with crisp, vibrant graphics. A special
  60. resizable window under Windows allows you to easily expand the
  61. window to the display's limits. You can also access PC CD-ROMs in
  62. Microsoft CD-ROM extension format, which supports ISO 9660 and High
  63. Sierra.
